Australian collar-bomb suspect to remain in custody after returning home ahead of trial - 24th Sept 2011

Australian police are holding the hoax bomber Paul Douglas Peters, after he returned to Sydney from the U.S., awaiting his trial for kidnapping and extortion charges.

Peters, 50, was formally charged by New South Wales police after arriving back from Louisville, Kentucky where he was held since his August arrest.

He is accused of attacking 18-year-old Madeleine Pulver, who was studying at her home in a wealthy Sydney suburb on August 3, before fastening the bogus device to her neck and leaving a note demanding money.

A police bomb squad spent 10 hours working to remove the contraption, which was later found to contain no explosives with Pulver walking away unharmed. Read More
