Blair had secret meeting with Gaddafi aide at his home... a month before Lockerbie bomber’s release - 25th Sept 2011

Tony Blair and Prince Andrew met one of Colonel Gaddafi’s top henchmen in London a month before the Lockerbie bomber was released, according to a TV documentary.

A Dispatches programme on Channel 4 claims the former Prime Minister had a secret meeting with Gaddafi’s former chief of staff Bashir Saleh Bashir at Mr Blair’s London home on July 20, 2009.

Bashir went there straight from hosting a lunch at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in London’s Pall Mall, where Prince Andrew was guest of honour. Bashir was also feted by the Prince at St James’s Palace.

Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was freed from jail in Scotland on August 20, causing uproar in the UK and America. Mr Blair’s office last night confirmed he met Bashir at his home in Connaught Square.

A spokesman said the meeting was to discuss using Libyan money to finance projects in Africa. He denied Mr Blair had ever benefited financially from his Libyan business activities, and he insisted Libya’s request to release al-Megrahi was not discussed. Read More
