Choosing a niche

Choosing the right products to promote is essential to your business as an internet marketer. You can't blindly pick something and count on it to work for you, if you don't know anything about it. This is something that you have to do consistently to make sure you're not getting in way over your head and complaining about why you're not getting any hits on your affiliate pages or that product you're promoting out of the goodness of your heart.

There's much more to it than picking products. You have to find out what niche your product is going to fit into. Once you find out what niche, then you can start by creating a website for the product or using a template and dump it onto a domain at hostgator.com, godaddy.com or something else. It's really up to you to find out what is going to be cost effective and stable, so if a prospective customer is trying to buy your product, it's going to be available for them 99.99% of the time. There are many low cost webhosting services. Do a little research and you can find some really good ones that aren't going to break your bank.

Now, about choosing a niche. When you choose a niche, you're looking for something that doesn't get a lot of hits, because if it's overly searched, then the saturation for that market is going to be tremendous and your chances of making any money from it will be a lot less than you thought it would be. Take, for example, "computers". When you research computers in Google, what is the 1st thing that's at the top of the list?   Dell is the very first, sponsored hit and then HP follows. What if you're shopping for computers?  Say like you put in "computer stores". What do you see now?  The top 3 sponsored ads are Staples, Microsoft, and Dell. Then, it's followed by Microcenter and Compusa. Notice how this changed. One more test. Let's change it to "cheap computers". What's the difference?  Walmart, Dell, and Microsoft are the top ads, but then they are followed by   electrocomputerwarehouse.com and geeks.com. So, you can see how changing keywords can help you to find a niche that isn't overly saturated and you can use whatever niche you find to promote your product and take it over.

Keywords are essential in finding the right niche for people to find you. You can also adjust the HTML code in the header of your site to your niche keywords and any others you may want to increase traffic to. There are some keyword generators out on the web that can help you or you can find programs that can do the same thing. But, be creative and design everything you do around your keywords. That includes creating your twitter account around it, your facebook, or any kind of social media you want to use. By doing so, you can bring more traffic to your niche.
