A plane carrying 19 people, mostly foreign tourists, has crashed in Nepal while trying to land in dense fog, police have said. A witness said 18 bodies were pulled out of the wreckage in Bisankunarayan village, a few miles south of the capital, Katmandu.
Eyewitness Haribol Poudel told Avenues Television the plane had hit the roof of a house in the village. He said a man who appeared to have survived was taken to a hospital.
Local officials near the crash site said rescuers had reached the crash site, but would not comment on causalities.
Nepal's air rescue office said the control tower near Kathmandu airport said they last made contact with the Buddha Air flight at 7.31am (local time).
The Beechcraft jet was returning to the Nepalese capital after carrying 16 foreign tourists and three crew members to view Mount Everest.
The "mountain flight" takes tourists over the Everest region and they can view some of the world's highest peaks from the plane windows. Source
